Overview

UNESCO sites and what they mean

Bursa was the first Ottoman capital, and Cumalıkızık is the village that helped feed it. Imperial mosques, markets and thermal baths sit beside a preserved rural landscape of stone houses and orchards.

Bursa holds the early Ottoman monuments: the Ulu Cami, the Green Mosque and the tombs of the first sultans. Cumalıkızık, a village on the slopes above the city, preserves Ottoman houses and a village square. The two parts are usually visited in one day.
