Göreme, Nevşehir, Türkiye
Neighbourhood guide

Göreme

Göreme is the village inside the national park: cave hotels, rock churches and balloon launches at dawn. The Open-Air Museum is the obvious stop, but the real pleasure is walking the valleys, Pigeon, Love, Rose and Red, with a water bottle and no fixed schedule. Stay two nights if you can; one morning will probably be cancelled for wind.

About this stop

Göreme

Nevşehir is the gateway to Cappadocia, where volcanic tuff has been carved into churches, homes and underground cities. Hot-air balloons, Göreme, Uçhisar and the valleys around Ürgüp make it one of Türkiye's most recognizable landscapes.
